During the winter, I rotate between about half a dozen pairs of black bootie heels. They’re perfect for schlepping through all types of weather, and I find other ways to make my outfits unique—a statement coat, blingy collar necklace, and colourful scarves. In the summer, shoes get a bit more attention. It’s hot out, you’re wearing less. In many ways, there are less ways to make outfits unique, which is why a bright pair of sandals makes all the difference. I was immediately drawn to the bright blue hue of these Mel Lapiz wedges by New York label Coclico. The line, which emerged in the early 2000s, is the brainchild of French Brooklynite Sandra Canselier and designed by Lisa Nading. These wedges feature a thick band across the front and asymmetrical straps that cross over and loop around the ankle. The heel measures at 2.75 inches, a comfortable height for wearing all day but a significant boost that will make your legs look long, whether you’re rockin’ denim cutoffs or maxi dresses. The Mel Lapiz wedges are $370 at the Coclico online shop. Buy it HERE.
